I have the 1010Music Black Box, it has a granular section, but it looks like the Lemondrop has more control through options that I don't have. I will probably go with Tasty Chips some day, the UI is absolutely wonderful.

I would think the primary use of an audio interface would be to use it as an audio interface, not as a mixer. Mixers are cheap. 12-channel/6-stereo-channel audio interfaces are much more expensive, and enable me to hook many external instruments up and get individual channels in my DAW for them. I've watched about six people doing videos on UA-cam and none of them except Cuckoo seem to know what this device is for or how to demonstrate it.

Bought my Typhon about 5 years ago haven't used much since I moved but its one of the most 'magic' fun synth desktops I have, I had 2 at one point, sold one, might get a 2nd one again... or do you have a suggestion on a similar type (but different) box for about the same price? Blackbox doesn't send program changes!!! What do you suggest for this? Or what do you usually do in a live performance? Do you change your patches manually if you are sequencing external synths with the blackbox? 😢

I only wish they made it so that you could download the kontakt plugins in your personal library. That wpuld make it sell like hot bread.

The bitter irony of the pads is that if you observe the MIDI output on a computer, something reveals that they were actually built to be extremely sensitive. They start outputting channel pressure messages at the lightest tap. It was Elektron's conscious decision to build in a sizable dead zone at the software level to enable a "gradual" touch" feature that only sends channel pressure (aftertouch) messages and does not trigger a note. It's my opinion that this feature would be best removed and replaced with a button modifier. Or at the very least let the user decide if they want that feature or more sensitive pads in the global settings.

so glad you mentioned the sound quality. sold my mkI because of it. so weird they didnt change it in mkII, probably is more than the converters at play. digitakt in comparison was amazing. fking mono though.

I just got a circuit tracks two weeks ago, have only played a bit with it and having trouble breaking through the first layer of 4tothefloor banality, and a mere 10 seconds into this video Martin has created some for him classically otherworldly, I could never hope to reach, why even bother!! 😂

Thanks, Stimming, you answered the question I've been asking: how necessary (if at all) the software is. And it seems it is necessary to, as you say, get anything interesting out of the machine. And that's a shame. It doesn't make sense for me to create a UI that is necessarily dependant on software. That just suggests they didn't yet master the UI to make all control available on the unit itself - or that such an ideal is just not possible without a screen. Either way, a dependency on an ipad or laptop sucks.
